Reporting to the Head of Legal, the Legal Manager will be responsible for Category & IP work for  the  current  categories  of the  Company.  The  position  holder  will  serve  as  the  key contact  point  for  legal  support  required  for  Categories  (Marketing),  Media,  and  Corporate Relations.  The position holder will be responsible for devising and implementing strategies for protecting the Company’s IP assets.  The position holder will also manage settlement of Competitors’  challenges  and  be  responsible  for  compliance  with  local  laws  and  corporate policies in the areas of IP and Category.

Main Responsibilities:</strong>

Providing daily legal advice, in liaison with Regional Category Lawyers and in-house functional  departments,  to  local  management  on  legal  marketing  issues,  including advertising/promotion  and product  claims,  products’ labeling and  liability,  contracts review, legal clearance to support the launches.

- Providing local management of Intellectual Properties including assessing and advising on business opportunities, registration, reviewing Trade Mark Licensing and Transfer Technology contracts, providing legal support in protection of IP assets and settlement of IP infringement and oppositions.
- Assisting   in   the   instruction   of   outside   counsel   and   managing   the   relationship efficiently;
- Participating in the negotiation, drafting and reviewing of all contracts relating to the company’s advertisement, media, brand activation operations  and ensuring that they safeguard Unilever’s interests;
- Managing Competitors challenges and counter-attacks
- Maintain   good   relationships   with   central   and   local   government   authorities   and agencies  that  are  relevant  to Unilever  business interests  and  within the  remit  of the legal department.
- Monitoring changes to law and regulations and informing all relevant personnel to the changes, providing suggestions on how to meet any change in the legal requirements, promptly;
- All other incidental work as instructed by the General Counsel of Vietnam, regional or global legal team from time to time such that Unilever Legal Function as a whole delivers an integrated service to Unilever’s business and meeting their business needs in a competitive and demanding environment.
- Team/Subordinates: The position holder will have one subordinate (Legal Assistant) and will be responsible for supervising, coaching and growing this subordinate.

Skills and Experience Required:</strong>

- Bachelor of Law from a recognized university;
- Relevant higher education and practice license are advantages;
- Minimum five years to eight years of Post Qualification Experience (in-house  or private practice);
- Proven excellent knowledge and deep experience in intellectual property law and advertising/promotional    regulations and a good understanding and working knowledge of corporate law, competition law, labelling regulations all other relevant Vietnam laws and regulations, administrative settlement regulations.
- Strong skills in analysis, drafting of contracts and legal documents for submission to competent authorities, negotiation, presentation;
- Ability to work independently under pressure and tight deadlines;
- Strong team work and customer service spirit;
- Management and leadership skills
- Excellent command of spoken and written English and Vietnamese.
